Mobile Diesel & Truck Repair in Mulberry

Mulberry has called itself the phosphate capital for a long time and the trucking here reflects it. What runs through this town is not mostly long-haul freight — it is dump trucks, transfer trailers, tankers and heavy short-haul tractors moving mined material and processed product on short, punishing cycles. That equipment breaks differently, and it breaks in places without a shop nearby.

Mulberry & the SR 60 Truck Corridor

SR 60 is the main event. It runs east–west from Tampa through Mulberry and Bartow out toward Lake Wales and Yeehaw Junction, carrying roughly 23,000 vehicles a day with about 26% of that being commercial traffic. That is a remarkably high truck share for a state highway, and it is entirely because of what moves through here.

In 2006 a bypass alignment — SR 60A — was built to route SR 60 around the active phosphate processing area, specifically to separate industrial truck movements from through traffic. That tells you everything about the volume of heavy equipment working these roads.

The other routes that matter:

  • SR 37. Running north to Lakeland and south toward Bradley Junction and the mining country.
  • SR 555. The local connector toward Bartow.
  • CR 640 and the haul roads. Mine access, plant approaches and staging areas — often unpaved, always hard on equipment.
  • US 98 north. The fastest route toward Lakeland and I-4 Exit 32 when you need the interstate.

What Breaks Trucks in Mulberry

Suspension components, constantly

Washboarded and unpaved haul roads at loaded weight destroy air bags, bushings, shocks, U-bolts and spring hardware far faster than highway miles ever would. This is the single most common call in the area. Suspension repair →

Hydraulic hose failures on dumps

Heat, flex cycles, UV and abrasion. A hose lets go mid-cycle, the body stops halfway, and now you have a downtime problem and a safety hazard at the same time.

Dust in everything that breathes

Phosphate and aggregate dust packs radiator and charge air cooler fins and chokes air filters. Trucks overheat and lose power without a single component actually failing. Cooling repair →

Brakes cooked by heavy short hauls

Loaded, low-speed, stop-and-start pit work generates far more brake heat per mile than interstate running. Linings and drums go quickly. Brake repair →

The equipment here also idles heavily and works at low speed, which is a bad combination for modern aftertreatment systems. Trucks that never get a sustained highway run load up with soot and derate — the same story as the distribution corridor, on very different equipment.

What to Tell Dispatch

  1. Where exactly. Highway and cross street, or the pit, plant or job site name plus how to get in. Haul roads rarely have useful addresses — a dropped pin is worth a lot here.
  2. Site access. Any check-in, escort, badging or PPE requirement. Industrial sites take this seriously and so do we.
  3. The equipment. Tractor, dump, transfer, tanker or lowboy, with make and year.
  4. The failure. Including whether a body or bed is stuck raised.
  5. Ground conditions. Paved, dirt, soft or sloped. That decides what jacking gear the tech brings.

If a body is stuck in the raised position

Nobody goes underneath. A raised dump body held up by a failing hydraulic system is stored energy waiting to release. Keep people clear, secure the area, and call — we support the load properly before anything gets opened up.

Honest pricing

Service call fee plus labor with a roughly two-hour minimum, plus parts quoted separately. Nights, weekends and holidays may carry a premium. You get the numbers on the phone and the repair estimate on site.

Mulberry Truck Repair FAQ

Will you come out to a mine site or an unpaved haul road?

Yes, subject to the site's access rules and whether the ground is workable. Tell us the surface and the approach when you call. Soft sand or a steep grade sometimes means the unit needs to move a short distance to somewhere we can safely jack it — and we would rather sort that out on the phone than after the tech arrives.

Do you work on dump trucks and transfer trailers?

That is most of what we do in this part of the county. Dumps, transfers, roll-offs, tankers, lowboys and heavy equipment, alongside standard tractors and trailers. Air ride and spring suspensions both, and hydraulic systems including wet kits.

My trucks eat air bags and shocks. Is that just the roads?

Largely, yes — haul road surfaces at loaded weight are brutal on suspension. But worn shocks accelerate everything else, so replacing them on a schedule rather than on failure genuinely reduces the total bill. Our fleet maintenance program builds suspension inspection into the PM cycle for exactly this reason.

Which truck brands do you service?

Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International and Western Star, plus vocational chassis and heavy equipment. Engines include Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, Volvo, Mack and International.
